About Sydney

Sydney grew up in Los Angeles, California, with her parents, older sister, and yellow labrador. When she wasn’t lapping the neighborhood ahead of an upcoming cross country or track meet, she could be found baking chocolate-orange scones, kicking a soccer ball, or studying for a future career in medicine. Sydney attended the University of California-Davis, where she graduated with high honors in Nutrition Sciences and Public Health. Those who knew Sydney knew her sharp wit, intense loyalty, and passion for helping others. Even in the midst of adversity, Sydney never lost her quick wit, her strength and determination shaped by years as an athlete, or her unwavering dedication to her friends and family. She was a natural advocate for others, always watching out for the underdog and standing up for those in need.

Sydney passed away at the age of 29 after a long illness that she fought with remarkable courage and resilience. Throughout her journey, she and her family traveled to many cities for medical care, gaining firsthand experience with the challenges faced by those needing treatment far from home.

This nonprofit was created in loving memory of Sydney by her family and inspired by the journey Sydney lived so bravely. Our mission is to provide travel stipends to those who must leave their home cities to access medical care, helping ease the burden during already difficult times.
